3 Entertaining Excuses for Avoiding Exercise

By: Tom Parker

There are a lot of times when you do not feel like exercising. Maybe you have had a bad day and just want to get home and relax. Perhaps you are feeling a little unwell and cannot stomach the thought of the gym. However, some of the excuses people make are absolutely hilarious. In this article I outline three of the funniest excuses I have ever heard.

1) I Get My Exercise by Walking to the Donut Shop Each Day:- 1 plain donut contains around 185 calories and adding icing takes that figure to around 270 calories. Walking burns approximately 300 calories per hour so if this is going to be your daily exercise routine you better pick a donut shop that is in a different town.

2) I Cannot Exercise Because The Nike Trainers I Need Are Too Expensive:- Yes some people put the gym off until they have saved enough money for their favourite pair of trainers, no matter how long that is going to take. Obviously, it is a good investment though as those new trainers will burn a lot more calories than the cheaper, less fashionable pair.

3) I Will Waste Away If I Exercise Anymore:- Yes some people actually use this excuse to avoid exercise. They do not consider that it would take a LOT of running to 'waste away'. Plus, resistance training can actually help them put on additional weight - the exact opposite of 'wasting away'.

As you can probably tell this article is meant to be humorous but there is a serious message behind it. There are always times when we will make excuses not to exercise. However, if we let these excuses get the better of us then we will not make any progress with our exercise plan. You may feel to tired to exercise but do you ever stop and consider that regular exercise can help you feel more energised and refreshed in the long term? You may believe that you cannot afford the gym membership or equipment but if you look at your current spending the reality is that you probably can afford at least a pair of trainers and a few pairs of shorts to exercise in. Ultimately, the choice to exercise is down to you. If you really want to make it happen then stop making excuses, get yourself out there and start exercising.
