Paris, one of most popular travel destinations in the world and the city with the biggest amount of hotels, is called world fashion capital and “the capital of all enamored". One single life is not enough to see all that Paris has to offer, but its best sights and the brightest places can be visited in a few days.



The symbol of Paris – the Eiffel Tower – is one of the first must-sees in Paris. Built for the World Fair in 1889 it still adorns the city. The tower has several lifts if you like to reach the top, but those who don’t want to stay in long queries can use the staircase.

In winter the ice-skating rink at the Eiffel Tower is open. The rink is situated on the first floor at the height of 57 meters and visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the Mars Field and the panorama of Paris.

Another Paris symbols are Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees, starting from the Arc. This arc was planed by Napoleon who was impressed by the Roman Triumph Arc. However the construction of the Arc was finished only some twenty years after his death. Now the Arc is a starting point for military parades.

Champs Elysees is may be the most renowned street in the world, mostly famous for its shops and designers’ boutiques.

Arc de Triomphe stands on the Place de l'Etoile. It’s the worst place for drivers in Paris – 12 big avenues lead to this round square, so imagine how complicated the traffic is! In 1970 the square received the official name of Charles de Gaulle.

There are some other famous squares in Paris – the luxurious Place Vandome, Place de la Concorde – the largest Paris square, Place Bastille which has become the symbol of freedom. By the way, the legendary Bastille fortress was destroyed during the revolution of the end of XVIII century and now only the contours on the square remind of its existence.

Notre Dame de Paris is one more famous landmark in the French capital. The construction of this Gothic style architectural masterpiece took about two centuries. Now its image along with the images of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe adorn the most of the Paris postcards. The cathedral is the heart of the whole France. The distance from the Paris to any point of the country is measured from the Notre Dame. It’s called the zero kilometer.

Louvre is the biggest palace and art museum in the world. It has a lot of art treasures, including the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. The visitors are allowed to make a photo of anything in the museum but this picture.

Modern Paris also has some interesting places to visit. One of the most remarkable modern districts is La Defense. Arche de la Defense represents almost a perfect glass cube with the governmental offices inside.

Paris consists not only of buildings – the picturesque Luxembourg Garden is surely a place you shouldn’t miss while visiting Paris.
