Allergies & Sinusitis: An Effective & Practical Solution

    View:
Every fall, millions of people are attacked by billions of tiny invasive armies of ragweed and grass pollen. The theatre begins in the nose and for many with immune systems unable to fend off the invasion, severe headaches develop because of congested sinus passages that eventually lead to severe sinus infections. Each year, people choose to medicate their entire bodies with a host of over-the-counter remedies or prescription strength antihistamines and decongestants that offer some relief while for others the benefits are marginal.

Why do we continue to medicate our entire body to achieve results that are often marginal and are frequently rendered ineffective as dependence reduces their efficacy? Do we really intend to wear the label quick fix, jet-set, microwave, instant-oatmeal type of society when determining practical ways to treat allergies?

Allergies and Sinusitis complications may be avoided if we simply adopted a practical preventative approach to alleviating sinus related symptoms. It has been reported that Ancient Yogis used to pulsate a saline solution into their noses at a rate that synchronized with the rhythmic pulsation of the cilia in their noses that washed out unwanted pollen, mold, and other foreign matter out of their noses. Moreover, this technique helped free the cilia from the thick infectious bio-film that slowed down the beating cilia or rendered it an ineffective transportation system to purge your nose of symptom causing allergens. Your mucociliary system is designed to work in harmony with mucous producing cells and cilia to sweep unwanted pollens and other foreign matter to the back of the nose and swallowed into your digestive juices or spat, sneezed or coughed out; not collected in an infectious swamp breeding pathogens that can lead to severe and chronic sinus infections. All right, I understand most everyone; including myself does not desire nor have the time to participate in graduate level yoga classes to master this technique.

However, there is a new device that has made significant technological advances to help you accomplish the ancient practice in less than a minute. Many Ear, Nose & Throat physicians have been recommending some form of nasal irrigation to their patients for years. Respiraid distributes a Pulsatile Irrigation device that cost around $97.00. Add up all the money spent on OTC products, physician visit deductibles, prescription copayments and time out of work; you will quickly recognize how cost-effective this little gadget may be for you. This non-prescription medical device delivers a gently pulsating stream of a buffered saline solution into each nostril of the nose requiring less than a minute to clean out your nasal passages. Often, nasal steroids are prescribed by physicians to help individuals with allergies and sinusitis because of their effectiveness at reducing the inflammatory response in the nose. Help compliment this targeted approach by cleaning out the nose so nasal steroid medications can work where intended; on the nasal mucosa.

If you are concerned about continuing to mix medications on top of the thousand of chemicals you breathe and ingest voluntarily, involuntarily and often unwittingly, you may want to consider adopting technologies that empower you to effectively compliment and treat your medical conditions without having to medicate your entire body; potentially leading to unwanted drug interactions that may have long-term consequences.

All patients are encouraged to direct their specific questions to their personal physicians. The information is written to help patients better understand and participate in their own medical care.
