Some specialty shops which perform the piercing procedures sell other cleaning solutions that are an alternative to the peroxide. Care should be taken to regularly check the earrings for breakage, rust, and damage. When ears are initially pierced, it is imperative the earrings remain in for an average period of 6-8 weeks to ensure the piercing site heals and will not grow closed.
