When parents dress and furnish their children's room generally they are not thinking of the influence it will have on their kid's lives. In fact many of the colors and decorations will have a psychological impact on the child because it is the child's very own space. It is the one room that is theirs in the home and as they grow older can be a valuable place for them to express themselves, regardless of their parent's tastes. One never forgets our childhood or teenage bedrooms, they helped shape who we are today!
Posters on the wall can surround us with our favorite comic book or sports heroes, the colors of blues, greens, and pinks can reflect a calming place of rest, and the bedding of course can convey all of those entities a wide variety of cool designs that you can be proud to have tuck you (and your kids) in at night!
Their is always the parenting advice that comes from the news: your children will be smarter by reading to the baby while in the womb and having your kids listen to Mozart will encourage more studious study habits. But rarely you hear about the effects of the kid's first bedrooms, and yet almost everyone can recall them.
Studies have shown that often times children can have settling problems in their bedrooms. These settling problems can be seen in requesting the parent to lie with them until they fall asleep or getting into the habit of falling asleep elsewhere in the home. These matters can help be adverted if the room is found to comfort the child. So keep this in mind for when you accessorize your children's bedrooms (hopefully with some of their input!) to ensure that they get the room that will best suit their individual needs!
