Since the announcement a few months back of upcoming movies by the Supernatural duo Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, details have started to emerge regarding the stars' venture into the big screen. While Padalecki did mention that he was willing to consider other genres other than horror, such as Westerns or comedy, the 6'3" actor will star on the remake of Friday the 13th which will reportedly have a February 13 release. Not to be outdone, Ackles will have a movie of his own, My Bloody Valentine 3-D, which will be up by January 23.



Friday the 13th is one of the most profitable slasher films in US box office history, after its release in 1980. The 2009 remake is currently filming on location in Austin , Texas , and after Padalecki, a few other stars have been cast in other roles. The O.C. star Amanda Righetti will play the female lead, while Nana Visitor from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine will play the role of Jason's mother. Jason will be played by Derek Mears. Also appearing in the movie are Danielle Panabaker, Jonathan Sadowski, Travis Van Winkle, and Aaron Yoo.

A website has confirmed that the Friday the 13th remake will have "mass nudity, drug use, extreme violence, cussing, and creative deaths." Supernatural fans don't really know these things too well, but they will certainly not mind if Padalecki is one of those people who will give the promise of "mass nudity" credence.

On the other hand, Supernatural's Ackles is also filming on location in Pittsburg , Pennsylvania for My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The film is also a remake of a 1980's horror flick, and Ackles will play an exciting role of murder suspect. Certainly, their roles in Supernatural have made it easier for the duo to branch out to the big screen in the same genre that propelled them there.
