Building chicken coops have become a much need source of income for many farmers across America. With the downward slide in commodity prices, the American farmer has needed to find a new source of revenue to depend on. Staying within an area they know well, many have ventured into building chicken coops. There are many reasons this has been working. Building a chicken coop is something most farmers have had to do so there is experience there to draw off of. In addition there are many other people in the same situation as the farmers, which are the need to either reduce spending or increase revenue.

Lower income families are new purchasing chickens to supplement their diets with the fresh eggs and a chicken once in a while. In a very short period of time these new chicken farmers see the need for a properly built chicken coop.

The flea markets across America are where these two groups of people generally met up. Most farmers are not rich and flea markets are where the farmers use to do their shopping in years past before Wal-Mart built a store everywhere. This is a place a person can sell, buy or barter almost anything and is the perfect place to sell chicken coops.

The best thing about buying a chicken coop built by a farmer is most of them will want to talk to you while you are making the purchase. This is when a novice chicken farmer can get helpful hints on what really works and what does not when it comes to raising chickens. What is the right feed and vitamins supplements are necessary to keep the chickens health and the experienced farmer will know this.

There is nothing like talking to an experienced person when it comes to obtaining knowledge that is accurate and correct. One of the many things farmers are good at is raising livestock. They are also good at building chicken coops.

This is more than likely a project you have been putting a bit of thought into. A chicken coop needs to be strong, sturdy and impregnable. In other words, no unwanted critters (in particular hungry ones!) should be able to "break in". It should also be warm and dry. Chickens, contrary to popular opinion, don't like the water. You also want to ensure the coop has good ventilation. The last thing you want is your feathered friends suffocating inside. Make sure you build your coop so that it gets plenty of sunlight for the entire duration of the day. Also, chicken feeders should be placed so that they are easily accessed.

I'm sure that your chickens are of the utmost importance to you. That's why you want to make certain you build the best chicken coop possible. It is therefore critical that you keep these things in mind, as well as the actual appearance and design of your coop. Make it something that you can be proud to show off (You wouldn't be the first person to end up taking orders from others to have a coop built).
