Successful caterers know that being in the food business is a tough job. There are constant deadlines to meet, inventory items to buy, and custom menus and meals to prepare. This is one of the most significant reasons why many catering companies are investing in catering event software. Catering software helps caterers in accomplishing necessary, everyday tasks such as inventory control, scheduling, and event planning. The program can also manage some specialized (and sometimes unpleasant) tasks that include payroll, sales reports, billing and invoices, and even master menus. With so many things for a busy catering business to accomplish in one day, it's no wonder so many are choosing to go with catering software. The programs can help your company achieve all of its goals in the time they need to be completed.

Creating a custom event menu can sometimes be a monotonous and slow process. Luckily for you, catering software can help you accomplish this typically complicated job in minutes, rather than hours. To begin, it's easy to store all of your customers' favorite recipes in the program. They are categorized in several sections to choose from, including the name of the food items, the culture from which the recipe stems, and the recipe title itself. For example, if you have a customer who is planning an event with a whimsical Jamaican theme, simply go into your "Jamaican food" category and wow your customer with your recipe storage. If you don't have specific Jamaican recipes to choose from, look instead under recipes that have some of Jamaica's most delicious fruits, such as passion fruit, pomegranates, or June plums. As an additional bonus, once your master menu is complete, catering software can automatically generate your shopping list for the event, making it easy to keep track of what you already have and what you still need to buy.

One of the biggest obstacles many caterers run into is inventory control. It is seemingly impossible to keep track of every food item used for an event. As such, many caterers either find themselves running to the store at the last minute to pick up items they need for an event, or they get into the costly habit of buying more than they need, "just in case." With catering software, your inventory list will be updated automatically according to the master menu you create. In demonstration, let's say you need ten bunches of bananas for a particular event. If you only bought eight bunches of bananas yesterday, catering software will let you know that you are using your entire inventory of bananas. It will also let you know that your inventory is short and conveniently place two bunches of bananas on the shopping list it generates for that event.

Many caterers complain that they don't have the time or the patience to complete their less-than-exciting sales reports and employee payrolls. This is just one more popular reason why catering software has become a hit. The program can help you keep track of your estimated event costs up to the minute, so you'll never be in doubt of how much to charge your customer. You can also quickly create time sheets for your employees and keep track of their hours electronically and according to their hourly pay. That's right; payroll generation just got easier.
