Stress, just the sound of the word can make your heart beat a little faster and your palms slightly sweaty. Let’s face it- in today’s culture it almost seems as if stress in a person’s life is as natural as breathing. Stressing over the finances, stressing over marriage and stressing over the kids are just a few of the common things among people today whom I like to call “stress pots- that is, those carrying a lot of stress” In the following short paragraphs I hope to define stress and success and give a few tips to turn your stress into success.

The list of things and situations that cause stress are exhaustive. People today are dealing with a wide range of opposing issues like marriage and divorce, infertility and children, prosperity and poverty that can each cause physical, mental and emotional strain. Just look down your street and you will probably find a home and a family trying to stop foreclosure on their dream home, another couple trying to have a baby and another couple coming into a large amount of money and trying to figure out what to do with it all. I personally would not mind that stress, but that is beside the point. If you find yourself in any of these situations or ones similar, here are a few tips to turn your stress around.

Tip 1: Write down what a good day would look like.

 Schedule some time for yourself in a quiet place and think about what a good day would look like to you. Write down your immediate thoughts and then prioritize them into order of importance. Then you will have a clear vision of what you want and you can take the next step of figuring out how to get it.



Tip 2: Learn how to say no.

  Once you have decide what a good day would look like, then you can say no to things that would deter your plans. This includes saying no to people and things that might be fun in the short term, but will get you off course in reaching your goals.



Tip 3: Do something about your situation

 Take action with your situation. For example, if you are getting behind in your mortgage and rent payments, call the mortgage company right away and get some help so you can avoid foreclosure and possibly get back on your feet. Don’t just sit around wishing for things to happen, take some action.

 These tips along with taking time to evaluate your life and change what needs to be changed, is a sure way to turn your stress into success.
