Most of the smokers might be aware about quit smoking pills. Some of the smokers even try to take quit smoking pills when they feel the need to stop smoking permanently. But all quit smoking pills are not effective, as there are only few, which actually help smokers stop smoking. One of the prescription quit smoking pills is Chantix, which has been approved by the FDA for use in the US.

About Chantix pills

Chantix pills are manufactured by Pfizer. These quit smoking pills help smokers stop smoking without any major difficulty. Most users of Chantix pills have stopped smoking after completing its treatment therapy. Various clinical trials of Chantix pills have also proven that this medication has higher success rates of smoking cessation among smokers compared to other medications.

What are Chantix ingredients?

The main ingredient in Chantix pills is varenicline tartrate. It works in two ways in the brain. Chantix helps stop nicotine cravings as well as reduces withdrawal symptoms. Chantix pills do not contain any traces of nicotine, which is mainly responsible for smoking habits among adult smokers.

Chantix ingredients activate the nicotine receptors in the brain without actually supplying doses of nicotine. In other stop smoking therapies, small doses of nicotine are supplied to these receptors to reduce their cravings. However, Chantix therapy is different from all other therapies used by smokers in the past.

How to take Chantix dosages?

Chantix pills are available in two dosages that include 0.5mg tablets and 1mg tablets. Doctor usually recommends low dosage at the start of the treatment, which is prescribed for 12- weeks. However, the dosage is increased after one week of starting the treatment therapy with Chantix pills.

It is always better for smokers who are prescribed Chantix therapy to set a quit smoking date. The recommended Chantix dosages should be started one week before this date, as it provides the necessary build up for the body to get ready for 12 week Chantix therapy.

You can take 0.5mg tablet once daily for the first three days after starting the treatment. The dosage should be increased to twice daily from day 3 after starting the treatment. From day 4 up to day 7, this dosage should be taken twice daily.

You can take 1mg tablet twice daily thereafter and the same should be continued up to the end of the treatment. However, if you suffer any complication while taking dosages of Chantix, consult your doctor.

What are Chantix side effects?

The most common side effects of Chantix therapy are nausea, gas, vomiting, constipation, and abnormal dreams. These side effects are reversible and go away when Chantix therapy is stopped. However, if these side effects cause any major discomfort, then you can call your doctor.

How Chantix helps to stop smoking effectively?
