Chelation therapy is a practice in which the patients are administered with certain chemicals to remove the toxins in their body. The most widely accepted chelating agent is EDTA. A question about safety always arises when going for a treatment. EDTA is a safe and a nontoxic substance. Although the FDA refuses to approve it for treating vascular disease, it still has been the approved treatment for heavy metal poisoning. Recent knowledge and studies have proved that chelation is much safer than CABG surgery. Its side effects involve minor discomforts that could be resolved quickly. Extreme of anything is bad. Likewise, greater risks take place when infusion is given in too large a dose. If taken in appropriate quantities, all these risks fade away.
