Basically if you list a sound system for collateral, and it is valued at $1,000, you will get a loan for that amount. If time passes and the value of your property is lowered, yet you haven't made enough payments; then the company has the right to take away that item; but they also lose out on money. A non-recourse loan can be a good option if you do not have a home that you own, or if you do not feel comfortable using your home as collateral.

Consequences come with everything, so if you cannot pay off the loans, then your items will be foreclosed or repossessed. A lot of people find themselves doing a second mortgage or getting another loan to pay for another loan that they have had. Putting your prized property at risk is not worth it if you know in advanced you cannot pay the full amount.
