If you have ever been on the receiving-end of inappropriate gifts, you know what this means. Some gifts are simply so wrong for the person who receives it that one might wonder how the giver could possibly have made such a decision.

There are a number of common reasons for giving inappropriate gifts. One reason for the lack of thoughtfulness in selecting an appropriate gift is a sense of obligation. In many instances, a giver feels obligated to give a Christmas present to a specific person. Unfortunately, the recipient often recognizes this quite clearly when he opens his Christmas package and finds something completely unsuitable.

A second reason for inappropriate Christmas holiday gift ideas is putting off holiday shopping until the last minute, or trying to squeeze a large amount of shopping into a tiny allotment of time. Whether this common problem is due to a busy work schedule or procrastination, the lack of thought and care in choosing gifts is usually apparent.

The third common reason for gift-giving mistakes is choosing Christmas holiday gift ideas based on the givers preferences rather than those of the recipient. Many people make the mistake of buying Christmas presents which they themselves would like to own, instead of considering what their recipients like.
