Common Sense For Animals

    View:
If you are preparing to store a vehicle for any amount of time then one thing is for certain and that is that you will want the vehicle that you store to come out of storage in the same condition that it went in. This means that there are necessary steps that you must take before you secure your vehicle in storage.

Locating a Vehicle Storage Facility

Finding a place to keep your vehicle when it is stored is not as hard as one might seem. In fact, most mini-storage facilities have a lot that they use for vehicle storage. If you wish to store your vehicle in an enclosed facility, you can simply rent a storage unit that is big enough to contain your vehicle.

Protecting the finish

Wash and wax your vehicle to protect its finish. To protect the undercarriage from rust you will also want to clean any dirt from the underside of the vehicle as well. Remember that accumulated dirt and leaves can store water which can lead to rust.

Beware of Nesting Rodents

Rodents such as rats squirrels and mice find stored vehicles an attractive place to nest in, so you will want to place a few packets or mouse poison in the vehicle as well as in the trunk and engine compartment. Also, an aluminum can stuck over the exhaust pipe will stop any small animals from climbing in.

Protect the Cylinders and Valves

Its a good idea to remove each spark plug and pour a small amount of oil into each cylinder of the motor. Then you will want to either turn the motor over by hand or disconnect the distributor wire and use the key to give the motor a quick spin.

Check the Coolant

If you are in a cold climate then you will also want to make sure that there is adequate anti-freeze in the cooling system as well. Lastly, make sure that the battery is disconnected and removed from the vehicle and stored in a cool dry place on a box off the ground.

Common Sense For Animals
If you have not been enjoying the global macro investing results that you dream of then you may want to read this. Will it fix all of your problems overnight? No, nothing does but it will help you to improve several areas of your trading that we see lacking in most traders and their trading process.

Capital Preservation: This goes by other names such as risk management but the same principles apply. You must learn to size your positions on a standalone basis as well as in the context of a portfolio. You also need to learn to use and adhere to stops. If you don't then you leave yourself open to seemingly never ending losses. By not losing a lot on any trade you will have a better chance at making a lot. Simple but true.

Process is Key: The process is ten times more important then any one trade result. If you focus more on doing the same thing each time and less on the potential gains or losses in each trade your results will be far better and you will make more money. If on the other hand you obsess over each loss you will become destructive and likely try and reinvent the wheel on each new trade.

Look for Real Opportunities: Look for the best risk to reward opportunities. Many traders will stay in a trade at the expense of everything else. Between not learning how to take a loss and just a bad understanding of opportunity cost many global macro traders will stay in a position when they could have made money in a new one. Look for trades with significant upside and minimal downside. The more you do this the lower your hit rate can be.

Newsletters And Advice: While some newsletters are horrible, others are excellent and provide a great resource to global macro investors. If you are ever having a hard time finding why a move is happening then newsletters may help. If you ever run out of good idea flow then you may need an outside service to help you out.

Continuing Education For Global Macro Trading: If you want to be good and competitive in the global macro arena you have to be at the top of your game. You need to be reading and reading and learning about everything you can so that you don't miss the big dislocations in the global economy.

Health: Maybe the most under rated thing you can do is to be healthy. If you are in poor health studies have shown that you will perform at a sub optimal level. When you have thousands and millions of dollars on the line then it pays to be at optimal health. Be healthy and you will think more clearly witch usually results in better returns.

If you are able to follow these relatively simple steps then you will be well on your way to improving your trading performance. If you are already working on these weaknesses then good for you. If not then look inside yourself and work at improving your global macro trading performance.
