Aromatherapy scented candles contain essential oils which are known to enhance a person's overall disposition and mood. The use of these candles is more commonly associated with alternative or supplemental medicine because there are traditional medical practitioners who do not consider such therapy as an exact science. As a matter of fact, modern medicine and its practice do not form part of exact science, too.

Suffice it to say that aromatherapy is a safe method of enhancing your mood and disposition. It does not have any harmful effects as long as you do not use it as an alternative to treat clinical depression.

A person may apply aromatherapy into his or her daily life in different ways. Among these are making use of oil burners and directly burning essential oils in order to allow its beneficial scent to circulate around the room, and simply using scented candles.

The use of scented candles is one of the romantic and soothing ways of enhancing one's mood and disposition. The essential oils contained in scented candles include soothing and healing properties which, when combined with the soothing and relaxing mood brought about by candle light, can absolutely do wonders to one's mood.

You can enjoy using aromatherapy scented candles all by yourself, or with a partner, or with a group. You can use scented candles while taking a bath instead of using the bathroom light. You can also light several scented candles in your bedroom while you spend time with your loved-one. When you are participating in group activities, scented candles may also be used, especially in such activities as yoga classes or prayer meetings.

Aromatherapy scented candles feature different kinds of therapeutic odors. You may choose any scent, depending on the mood that you want to achieve.

If you have a sleeping problem, candles with such scents as jasmine or lavender can help you relax and improve your sleeping pattern.

However, when lighting candles, you must be careful and make sure that you put them on safe places to prevent accidents such as fire.

A person who simply wants to relax may light candles with a eucalyptus smell or the like. It does not only help a person relax, it also invigorates oneself. Moreover, eucalyptus is known as a natural mosquito repellant.

Candles with citrus scents, such as orange and lemon, can help turn your negative mood into a positive one. These scents are commonly used by people who are tired, stressed, or generally in a bad mood. These scents are known to give people an instant lift that they need.

You must be aware though that there are scented candles available in the market today that do not have therapeutic uses. Such candles do not contain essential oils that are found in aromatherapy scented candles. They are usually composed of synthetic scents that may not help you in achieving the mood and disposition that you want to achieve.

It is not guaranteed that scented candles with synthetic odors have the same therapeutic effects found in aromatherapy scented candles. Therefore, people are advised to buy those that are authentically used for aromatherapy purposes. This can be determined by the price and by reading the label.

The essential oils used to produce aromatherapy scented candles are the same ones used as base for expensive designer perfumes.
