1. Cell phones ? there was a time when it was rare for a child to have a phone in his or her room. Today they have phones that can go any where and do anything. While it may be necessary for some children or young teens to have cell phones for emergency use (and they do make phones that will only call a few limited numbers) there is no need fore someone without a job to have unlimited minutes, texting ability and the latest amenities.



2. Ipods ? maybe you don't want to listen to their tunes all the time, but plugging kids into an Ipod can be damaging to their hearings. Besides, if you let them listen to their CD's and stations when you are with them (with out complaint) then you will be able to keep an eye on what the music choices they are making.

3. Computers ? although these wonderful machines can be helpful for homework or other needs, there should be a limit. If they aren't going to be studying online, doing productions, or other entrepreneurial ventures, then the basic computer is all they need ? and pass on the laptop.

4. Video games ? it doesn't matter if it's the latest version or and Atari, the truth is that all kids can survive without them and very few (if any offer any true benefits).

5. Televisions ? keep one in the family room and share it along the whole family.

Technology is a great benefit for the entire family, but it is spoiling most of the younger generation. Say no to some of the gadgets and gizmos you children desire and you could find a little more change in your pocket because of it.
