My family keeps me sane from life's pressures, sure they forget to put away their dishes and I gently remind them and tell myself that one day they will leaving the nest and when that day comes (oh I don't even want to think about it).
I am mother to 2 little ones Blair Marie (DOB 7/6/99) and Trent Phillip (DOB 2-5-04) I was married 10 years before I decided to take this journey of a lifetime. My husband and I never discussed having children and after working in the corporate world for 10 years, the thought of starting a family sounded better and better.
I had 2 uneventful pregnancies and really loved every minute of it (well not the last 2 weeks) gained tons of weight, but certainly the aftermath overshadowed the blubber :) I know how to lose weight eat right and exercise RIGHT? I did well with #1 it was #2 that I struggled with. That struggle led me through some hurdles and some hormonal self discoveries that I eventually got past through lots of research and self guinea pig experiments.
My husband Scott and I will be celebrating 18 years of marriage on 7-31-07, it has been so long I have to actually stop and do the math in my head. I have to say that I have loved every day (notice I did not say "minute" *grin*).
I am very close to my mother (the short German lady named Ursula) and dearly miss my father that passed away at age 56 due to stress (massive heart attack). My mother is my business partner and still the best cook on the planet. My step-father has also played a huge role in my upbringing and I sincerely appreciate it.
Our family hobbies include golfing, boating, my daughter has taken up Tennis this summer and her father is overjoyed and me too, but it is pretty embarrassing for me getting whooped by an 7yr old. In the winter we like to travel and dream of how next the summer will be, I love planning my Garden, a garden is my #1 stress reliever, there is never a shortage of weeds around.
I work from home now and will NEVER work in corporate again, it had it's place and I gained a lot of experience but it is like Why would I drive a Nova when I can have a Corvette? I have a passion for people that want to discover their own lives and simply need help finding it. Many people struggle with finding Harmony in their lives (I know I did) and when you do find it, there are many, many more joyful days in your life.
My husband is still the breadwinner at the moment, but I am so close to out earning him and he says "Go, baby Go" we both know that it takes lots of money to help others that have the same desires and outlook on life. It is a big reason I joined the Braveheart community, surrounding yourself with other liked minded people simply keeps you from slipping backwards.

Favorite Subject In School
I believe that everyone reading this newsletter understands that no matter what business you are in- Real Estate, Financial Services, Teaching, Auto Sales any other profession, we are all in the PEOPLE BUSINESS. It’s been said that fully 85% of your success in life is directly related to your ability to effectively work with people. So I wanted to pass on a little tip that will make all your dealings with clients or co-workers much more effective.
It’s laid out in Dale Carnegie’s great book How to Win Friends and Influence People (definitely recommended reading). If you ever asked someone their “favorite subject", you’d hear answers in a few categories. Most individuals we’ve met will respond with something either in the category of an activity (reading, sports, fishing, etc.) or their relationships (kids, grandkids, etc.) and neither of those are the real answer. The real answer- without exception- is that everyone’s favorite subject is THEMSELVES! By default, everyone is much more interested in their own life and their own day than anyone else’s- and that’s OK. I’m not saying that everyone is or should be totally self-centered. I’m saying that in your dealings with other individuals, you MUST understand and respect this principle. The more you can “put yourself in another person’s shoes", the better communicator you’ll become. Three tips on how to do it:
1. Master the skill of LISTENING. You have two ears and only one mouth, and great communicators will tell you that that’s the proportion they should be used in. How are your listening skills?
2. Take a SINCERE INTEREST in others. Empathy, compassion, and a real desire to learn about people are some of the most attractive and persuasive qualities you can possess...and they cannot be faked.
3. Remove the words “I" and “me" from most of your communications. When selling, coaching, teaching, or just working with someone, understand that it usually not about you even a little, so don’t try and make it that way.
In our workshops we get into a ton more detail on these concepts, but we thought you’d be able to chew on these concepts. As with any success principle, the art of communicating is a skill that can (and must) be learned if we are going to live to the fullest. I wish you the best on your continuing journey- make it a truly great day!
