What you are trying to do is to become debt free, right? You want to be able to pay your bills on time, not be burdened down with credit card debt, and even take a little vacation with your family. At times you feel crippled by the fear that you might even lose your home. You want to get out of the stranglehold of debt! Where do you get started?



First of all, in order to become debt free, you must have at least one financial freedom resource! Of course, the more resources you have on your side the better your chances will be, of becoming unburdened financially.

If you have a rich uncle, now is the time to make that phone call! If one of your relatives is planning to leave you a windfall in their will, you might go have a serious talk with that person, explaining your situation and asking for your inheritance now when you really need it. That probably sounds very scary, but so is losing everything you own!

No rich uncle or pending inheritance? Quit biting your nails and let's come up with some ideas which would serve as a financial freedom resource.

Let's suppose you have a good job but are simply in debt due to over-spending. Perhaps you could go to your local bank or credit union to request a loan. That could work out to be an excellent financial freedom resource!

Getting a loan to consolidate your debts, especially the credit card balances, would mean paying one monthly payment. You will still be paying some interest, but the stress will definitely be reduced.

Have you considered asking your pastor if the church has a financial consultant? Some churches are even willing to give financial help to their members. Whatever assistance they can give you will act as a financial freedom resource. If nothing else, you will know that someone cares.

What about contacting a non-profit debt consolidation organization? A group like that deals with people in your position all the time. Their input could lead you in the right direction and at least give you more information since they function as a financial freedom resource.

Although there are many companies online that advertise that they help people who are in debt, be cautious about giving out too much personal and financial information unless you are confident that you are reaching a secure website.

Do you have a friend who has been in your position and found a financial freedom resource which helped get their debts under control? You may be embarrassed to let your friend know how serious your financial situation is, but remember that false pride won't get the bills paid.

Humble yourself and ask for advice. A friend may be the perfect financial freedom resource for you in this difficult time. I am sure that you have heard that two heads are better than one. Sharing about your common problem may help you both to become even closer friends. Wouldn't it be awesome if your friend has ideas that work to help you out of your financial mess?

Don't waste another day frozen with fear of your financial debt! Have you ever heard the saying, “No pain no gain”? How about this one, “Actions speak louder than words”? There are a lot more, but you get the point. At least I hope you get the point!

The point is that it is time to take action to choose at least one financial freedom resource. If the first one doesn't work out, don't give up! Keep going through your list until you find the help that you need!
