He has mastered the best strategies on how to rescue a little girl stuck in a burning building, and how to stop massive fire from occurring simultaneously with a hurricane. For him however, one doesn't need to be a fireman to save lives.

This would not necessarily mean of course that we rally ourselves up to that burning building and save the child, no. We could save lives by helping those victims of fire in fire damage restoration.

The first thing we have to do in fire damage restoration is to survey the area. We should be on the lookout for live wires that may cause further damage. In the same manner, we should also be wary of smokes and sparks throughout the vicinity. If one can somehow enter the just-burned property, proceed to the attic or basement, because this is where most surprises usually come from.

We should also know which of the fire damaged furniture should be restored and discarded. This is crucial because in fire damage restoration, we are racing against time. We have to restore the establishment or the home as soon as possible because every wasted day counts. If it would take us a great deal of time to restore items that are better off replaced, we are unconsciously delaying the chance of the victim to move forward with his life.

Before starting with the fire damage restoration, we should wet debris down. This would prevent wet particles from moving freely in the air which may be hazardous for the fire damage restoration team.

Also, we should observe proper gear when joining a fire damage restoration operation. Don't forget to wear basic protective clothing which includes gloves, head gear and rubber boots. Using protective eyewear and a respirator is also a plus.

We should also ensure proper ventilation since smoke contains carbon particles and may be harmful for the people participating in the fire damage restoration. It is recommended that a fire damage restoration team use HEPA or High Efficiency Particulate Air vacuums in cleaning up after a fire accident to make sure that all soot and debris are out of sight. HEPA vacuums are also guaranteed to remove 99.97% of all particles, making the cleaning easier for everyone.

Once the room is soot free, try salvaging the personal belongings and again decide on which to keep and which to discard.

In fire damage restoration projects, it is important that the entire place is deodorized. The smoke emits a bad odor that may be hard to endure for adults and hazardous for kids.

While doing fire damage restoration, always keep the victims in mind for inspiration; to move forward and get going. A fire damage restoration team has no time to waste; clean up should be done as best and as soon as possible.
