People tend to get stressed when moving time comes around. They're not prepared, have too much nostalgia for their former home, they don't have an enough time or maybe they are just plain lazy. Either of those examples could throw someone for a loop but, luckily, they just need a little guidance. Here are ten tips to help anyone preparing to change homes or otherwise move.



1) Have plenty of boxes.

Make sure you have plenty of containers to store your stuff in. Most everyone in this world simply has a lot of crap they own and typically they don't realize it until they have to finally move it. Having plenty of boxes will ensure you can pack everything even those items you didn't remember were in the closet.

2) Color coordinate.

It would be a shame to have all of these boxes and not knowing what went into what box. No one wants to move into a new place and dig through everything all over again. Take the time to pack in an organized fashion and you'll save time when unpacking at your new home. If you don't do this, random items may also get lost after the move. This could be a tragic consequence.

3) Have important documents and papers with you.

This is vital for really important documents. Insurance, receipts, bills, loan information, or anything else that may be too important to lose. If they're just packed randomly into boxes they could be lost in the shuffle thus causing who knows how much harm.

4) Keep valuable items near by.

Along the lines of the previous tip, make sure you keep anything with significant value with you. This could be anything from personal mementos to credit cards or even jewelry. Doing this will ensure that whatever you hold sacred will be saved. Also, anything that cost a significant amount of money won't be lost.

5) Use luggage.

Heh, this is a pretty simple tip. Don't put your luggage into the moving pod or van empty! That would only take up precious space. Make sure to fill up the luggage with cloth or other items. It may seem obvious but many don't always do this and you'll end up consolidating more space than you'd think.
