Florida, a state in Southern United States, has been a popular tourist destination for over a century. Florida boasts a wide range of water sports, activities, theme parks, and attractions to take part in. Key points in Florida are actually busy year round, particularly because of the year-round excellent weather that gave Florida the nickname of "The Sunshine State".

The two main languages in the state are English, and more recently Spanish. The Mexican influence on the state has led many to accept Spanish as a second language. English is still the dominant language, but be prepared to encounter more than a few individuals who communicate through Spanish. As a result of the cultural differences, some parts of certain cities are dangerous to tourists- even in small groups. To stay safe, keeping to the better parts of town is a good idea. Other than a few theft crimes that plague visitors, hurricanes remain to be the only other constant threat to an otherwise perfect vacation.

The attractions in Florida will no doubt be the main reason for traveling to the state. For family fun, be sure to check out Disney World - the leading theme park in the entire state. The younger, and wilder, crowd will most likely take advantage of the easy access to alcohol- although to purchase it, the buyer must be at least 21 years of age. For educational resources, countless museums offer historical and cultural background and artifacts that will provide a very educational vacation. The extreme sporting crowd will most likely be hitting the beaches, participating in water sports such as water skiing, paragliding, boating, or seaside sports. Clearly, Florida accommodates to nearly every type of vacation, which has without a doubt contributed to its success as a tourist state.

Florida can be enjoyed on more than one level, which can be seen with the National Parks that it contains. For a more romantic or peaceful getaway, the multiple National Parks within the state are sure to drop a few jaws. From desert-like environments, to mountains, to dense forests, every national park has its own distinct characteristic that makes visiting each one a treat. One of the more popular of the national parks is the Everglades- which gives a wonderful view of natural habitats of rare species like the Flamingo. The national parks are scattered throughout the state, so a little driving is in order to see them all.

Florida is widely known as "The Sunshine State" for a reason. The year-round enjoyable weather make spring break, summer vacation, and even Christmas great opportunities to go visit and take part in the many activities. Since Florida can accustom to most types of vacations, from party goers to family trips, it is likely that a little overcrowding of hot spots will occur. For this reason, reservations may also have to be made to book a premier hotel or restaurant. With a little planning, a trip to Florida will be an unforgettable experience for all walks of life.
