You may have noticed as you have been looking at what all of the TV programming service providers have to offer, that they are all by no means the same. There is a wide assortment of programming packages out there for you to select from and there is also a wide choice in the equipment that is available for you to choose from.

DirecTVs series of programming packages is called Total Choice and their exclusive brand of satellite systems and components is Hughes Electronics. The people at DirecTV feel that that this combination that they have for you gives you the most options that you can get when you are selecting which TV programming service provider to use.

They have several models of Hughes receivers for you to choose from starting with their simple and very functional Hughes Director receiver that will come to you free of charge with their forty channel Family Choice programming package. Its the perfect receiver for this package, because it doesnt include all the functions and features that drive up the cost of a receiver and it has a one-hundred and twenty-five channels capacity.

It is important to bear in mind that you get the receiver and the satellite system free of charge when you join the DirecTV family of viewers and this economical receiver is one of the ways that DirecTV is able to have such a low price tag on their entry level package. With only forty channels youre certainly wouldnt need a custom menu, programming search function or a high channel capacity.

If you choose to upgrade to a higher level of programming package you also get an upgrade on your receiver and both of these upgrades have no extra service fee, so you only pay for the larger programming package and that is all. DirecTVs one-hundred and fifty-five channel Total choice package comes with their Hughes Executive receiver and it has all the features that you will need for their higher number of channels that you will be receiving.

With the custom menu feature you can set up your own menu of all of your favorite channels that you can refer to avoid having to search through the main menu every time you want to watch your TV. The Hughes Executive receiver is a state of the art top of the line receiver that is also stylish and attractive. This durably built low profile receiver can also come with digital video recording capabilities as well as DVR Powered by TiVo for doing your own slow motion instant replays.

DirecTV also has a Total Choice plus package with one-hundred and eighty-five channels as well as their top programming package with two-hundred and fifty channels that also includes their high definition channels. This package is called their Total Choice Premier package and it will come with your choice of two high definition receivers, for which there is a very low nominal fee.

The first high definition receiver is a basic model, just like their Hughes Director and the other high definition receiver is modeled along the lines of the Hughes Executive and it comes with DVR or DVR Powered by TiVo.
