First created in the eighties, it didn't take long to become one of the one of the world's leading investment coins. The front of the coin is almost the same as the $20 Augustus Saint Gauden. These were created from 1907-1933 and were christened the 'double-eagle'. They were designed to create awe like ancient Greek and Roman coins.

The gold eagles are created by a specialized process in the mint which starts by entering burnished blanks into presses fitted special dies. The coin is struck a host of times in order that the images seem to float above a mirror-like field.

The American eagle gold coin is the only bullion coin guaranteed by the American government (congressionally authorized) which means that it's even more of a valuable investment. They guarantee its gold content, weight, and purity. Investors often prefer the gold eagle to gold bullion bars or other gold coins because of delays or added costs for assaying. It allows you to give your potential bidders some background information about you and your business. You can also include your feedback and other listed auctions on this page as well. This is where you have a chance to tell your potential bidder about yourself and your business, why he/she should buy from you. I would highly recommend you take advantage of this and create an about "Me Page" in your eBay account.

Also people may have questions regarding your auction. So you could get an email asking about your product or service. You should welcome this opportunity as a way to show your potential bidder you are a real person. Take this time to show your integrity, honesty, credibility, and expertise in your product or service.

Unlike most bullion gold coins, American eagles are non-reportable, private and preferred by gold investors because of their complete privacy, safety and security.

It has a reeded edge and is 22 karat (which means 91.67% gold, 3% silver and 5.33% copper.) This is the usual for gold coins because it creates a harder coin that resists marring and scratches.

In 2006 the American government introduced the American eagle uncirculated coin. The gold version was made in one-tenth, one-quarter, one-half and one ounce sizes, along with a complete four-coin set containing one coin of each size.

In 1999, the US mint at West Point produced a limited number of accidental 1/10 oz and 1/4 oz uncirculated coins. All the other West Point gold American eagles are proofs.

If you are looking to buy gold eagles and you would prefer to maintain your privacy it is sensible to buy from a seller who don't ask for your social security number or request an application.
