‘Balderdash'! I hear you cry-not so in my opinion. There are too many researches and studies which indicate that colour has a very profound impact on our psychological, emotional and physical well being.
One of the problems with choosing colours is that many people find it difficult to know which colours suit, tone and blend with each other well. However, colours may not in theory appear to match or coordinate but if they make you feel happy and are pleasing to your eye then why not use them?
Modern colour designers are breaking what used to the ‘rules' when using colour. Using colours which traditionally are considered inappropriate combinations and successfully using them in some very striking interior designs.
Colours are also associated with the senses; for example if you wish people to have a healthy appetite try using red in a dining room, as red is thought to stimulate appetite. Think of all the red foods there are which make you feel hungry! Strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, glossy red apples, a bowl of cherries-all different shades of red-all make you feel hungry! Red teams well with natural woods, especially mahoganies and rose woods, dining tables and chairs made of these coloured woods offer a striking and well coordinated appearance to a dinning area.
Red is also associated with romance and love-red roses, red hearts. Bold shades of red can also create a sense of warmth, making it an ideal colour for bedrooms which are north facing. Teamed with creams or even black bedding a sensuous and fun atmosphere can easily be achieved.
Blue is considered to be a cold colour. Yet different shades of blue can remind of warmth. For example- bright blue skies and oceanic hues of blue are reminiscent of warm holidays and tropical paradises. It all depends on the shade and the context in which blue is used.
This vibrant blind with different shades of blue available from is ideal for bathrooms which have a seaside or exotic island theme. White paintwork and bathroom suite keeps the blue in context. When used at a window which is south facing the natural warmth of sunlight will add to the overall visual effect in a striking way. Having accent pieces in similar shades of blue, such as towels, a picture or mirror frame, a vase or perfume bottles placed on uncluttered shelves or window sill offer a well coordinated and cohesive look can provide a feeling of warmth and tranquillity.
For those who prefer a real seaside type theme could effectively incorporate sand yellows, colours of tropical fish or pebbles to create an more traditional bathroom look with the same striking blue roller blind. The great thing about using roller blinds in a bathroom is their resilience to damp and humid conditions.
History World Part 1
With the start of this new season, have you a thought of doing a major cleaning? No, not of your house... I mean your personal fall cleaning. You absolutely owe it to yourself to do an internal cleaning of your thoughts, beliefs, and actions on a regular basis. People who maximize their potential, regularly check in with themselves to see if their thinking and their beliefs are serving them or not.
Just like cupboards and drawers that fill up with outdated and unused items, our minds, hearts and souls get cluttered with unserving thoughts, beliefs, and habits. It's not unusual to forget what is hidden and safely tucked away in a corner, and yet it is very much there, taking up space and valuable energy. When we examine our inner world, we find hidden things that need to be thrown out for some of these things become subconscious barriers; they keep us stuck in our familiar ways. We end up getting locked in our attitudes and posture.
Frequently during this type of cleansing we can be amazed at what we find. We often discover comments that were told to us, and never questioned. It is always our false beliefs and wrong thoughts that cause us the greatest pain and suffering; and that keep us from being all we can be. We are frequently our own worst enemies. These falsehoods create stress and dis-ease. The good news is that your past does not have to equal your future! It is never too late to change.
Will things change positively over night, with no work on your part? Not likely. You will need to step out of your comfort zone. With desire and willingness you can get that internal cleaning underway. Doing some work up front now will make the rest of your life much easier. Reality is, this is your life.
Are you driving the bus and choosing the direction you are going? Or, have you given up on yourself and are letting others drive your bus and choosing the direction?
Many times we need to ignore current appearances because these could lead us to think that there is no hope; that we're not worthy; that we do not have the ability to succeed; or worse yet, that our efforts will never work. Yet again, this is erroneous. We just need to look at the examples in nature. When the fields are planted in the spring, farmers do not tell themselves after a day, a week, a month, this will never grow. They accept that there is a gestation period; that with continued watering and tending to, the crops come up. Faith in the process is needed.
When we are working on changing our internal world, there is also a gestation period. Faith and persistence play important roles in this process. Believe in yourself, as it is the greatest gift you can give yourself! One step at a time, with your goal clearly in front, you will get there.
At first, our regular life takes over, it is compelling and we get trapped again in the lack mentality. It will take some vigilance on your part to choose your thoughts wisely, to remain positive and take right action. Remember you are deserving. Yet, how many of us actually allow the good to come into our life? Many individuals continue to push away a better quality of life because of their thinking and of their old habits. Others struggle because they change their mind at every corner. You do not need to be one of those people.
