Senior citizens, pregnant women, or disabled people often find a mobility scooter is a wonderful help in getting out and about. Those people that have limited mobility suddenly find that they can do so much more with a scooter!

Indoor And Outdoor Use

A portable mobility scooter can be used indoors and outdoors. This is great news for anyone who finds even a walk between rooms in a large house difficult whether due to age or injury. For this type of regular use it is best to find a slightly smaller portable mobility scooter so that it is easily maneuverable indoors and around corners.

If storage space is an issue you need to look at a portable mobility scooter that folds away. This feature will mean that your scooter won't take up valuable storage space in small living spaces when not in use. Folding away also makes it easier to pack such a scooter up into the back of a car when traveling from one place to another.

Rugged Terrain

Some people like to head out to town in their scooters and cover quite a bit of distance. Some also like to accompany other people on walks and such. In situations like this, you'll want a bigger model that can handle long trips (think battery life) and rough terrain.

Think about where you live and the ground upon which you will be driving your scooter. If you don't have good sidewalks or smooth streets to ride on, think about getting a sturdier model that can travel well on rough terrain. Also remember however that larger models often travel faster.

If you are a person with considerable weight, you may also wish to consider the comfort of your scooter. A larger scooter for a larger person may be a much better fit for long-term use. Getting squished each and every day by a tiny little scooter isn't much fun. Make sure that you choose something comfortable that will last a long time.
