Why do most people fail in starting their own business? The simple answer is they may not have chosen the right business opportunity. Just looking on the internet one can be flooded with choices of different business opportunities. However, there are some deadly requirements that you should seek to avoid when selected the right business for you. Never get involved in a business which mandates that you sign up your friends or, worse yet, your family as customers. Not only will you find that your social life will soon be lacking but the front door at home may soon be locked as well.

Avoid hotel meetings like the plague. This is a recipe for disaster. Many start home businesses seeking financial freedom and do so while still working another job. If you are forced to attend hotel meetings all the time in order to market your opportunity you will exhaust yourself and have no free time left. You will also endanger your family or social life as well.

Another deadly mistake is joining a business which requires you to buy a huge amount of your company's own product. Did you join so they could take advantage of you? Hey, I've got a bridge I could sell you. This requirement is simply too expensive and who has room for all that junk they are peddling anyway.

Not many people would admit that they started or joined a home based business just to do so on a non-profit basis. Of course not. Just like you, they are doing it for the money. Then I say one of the most important elements of the business is the compensation plan. There are a lot of opportunities that simply do not offer enough payment but there are some good ones that do pay well. Keep on trucking until you find the right compensation plan. Personally, I like to make a lot of money. Don't you?

Never join a business when it takes you two years to explain the concept to someone else. This is a red flag screaming that it's too complicated. You want a business that is easy to understand for you, your customers, and your other salespeople. The simpler the better.

Avoid overly stringent marketing or recruiting requirements. Most home based business opportunities on the market today require you to recruit other people just like you who want to make a lot of money. Not only must you recruit other people you must recruit a ton of other people. This takes undue amounts of time and selling skill. You don't have to possess either with the right business model.
