You have made the decision and your next pet is going to be a Rottweiler dog. The first thing you have to do, and the most important step in this process, is to choose a quality Rottweiler breeder. A breeder is someone you not only get your dog from but also someone that you will turn to for advice on raising your dog and someone that will supply you with the care and feeding instructions you will follow for your dog. The breeder needs to be someone you can trust so take your time and do your research before you finally settle on an all important Rottweiler breeder to get your pet from.

You can check the national breeder registries on the Internet to see if the breeders you are considering are listed with a registry and adhere to the registry's breeding standard. The American Kennel Club is a very famous registry but there are others, so be sure to check them all. If a prospective breeder is not listed with a registry you may want to find out why and ask what breeding standards they use for quality breeding.

People use the Internet to express their opinions on many topics and perhaps you will find information about fake Rottweiler breeders on the Internet as well. Some people feel so strongly about a situation that they will post on a public message board for all to see and that should be a good indication that you may want to avoid that breeder. Some breeders also have websites and you can really get a good idea for what kind of breeder you are dealing with from the information on their website so see if they have an internet presence before you start talking with them.

Never forget that your vet is a great source of information for your pet purchasing needs. If you have a vet then ask them their opinion on the breeders you are considering and if they have a negative opinion then maybe steer clear of that breeder. If you do not yet have a vet then the time you are choosing a breeder is the perfect time to choose a vet and get their opinion.

For something like a Rottweiler breeder you may want to check with local law enforcement about the breeders you are considering. You can never tell what kind of activities a breeder was involved with and if they have a record with the local law enforcement authorities then chances are that you do not want to get your pet from a person like that. Always check with the law before getting a Rottweiler.

A breeder is an important person in your pet's life so be sure you pick the right one. Talk to them and see what kind of information they have to offer. If they do not seem to offer any useful or helpful information then you may want to consider another breeder. You will be dealing with your breeder for many years to come so take the time to do your research and make a good decision for you and your pet.
