When it comes time to erect the structure, the weather should be considered. If rain is in the forecast, the start of the building process might need to be delayed. When the building materials are being purchased, a tarp might be a wise additional purchased incase bad weather takes place during the building process.

After the chicken coop is erected, it must be painted to protect the structure from the elements. A good primer should be used before the paint is applied.
