You can first buy the primary colors and mix them to create other colors. For instance, mix the primary colors red and white to produce the color pink.

You can also mix red, blue and green altogether in order to achieve the color black. Buy a large tube of white and black. Buy a palette where you can put your paint on. You can also substitute a paper plate with an aluminum foil on top of it and it can work wonders.

If you're all set to begin painting, draw in the canvas by initially using your pencils. After that, you can now color the sketch with paint. You can also mix your acrylic paint with water to achieve the desired thickness on the canvas.

Under painting is one technique that gives a professional look. It involves painting below the outer layer of paint. You can apply a lighter shade or a glaze above the under paint.
