How would you go about deciding your surgeon? It is an important decision of your life; you definitely don’t want anything to go wrong. You will want to make sure that you choose the best in your budget. Rhinoplasty is a surgery performed to reshape the nose. It can help you reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the tip or the bridge, or even change the angle between your nose and the upper lip. Changes in the structure of the nose can make a big difference to your face. If I had to go through this surgery I think pictures of patients who have gone through the surgery would be my ideal stop. How a person looked before and the difference after the surgery would say the real story. Though it is not always about correcting the defect for perfection, there are other reasons like birth defects which could cause breathing problems for someone to opt for this reconstructive surgery.

Moving away from the technicalities of rhinoplasty or any cosmetic surgery for that matter, I personally feel there is this certain charm to a person with a slight imperfection. Sometimes correcting that takes away that special feeling. Ofcourse eventually it’s all about your confidence. On superstitious grounds people of old school of thought feel that if they change the imperfection they are letting go of all their good luck. Today it’s all about how you feel.

Rhinoplasty has become a common reward for passing college entrance exams. Some even undergo surgery two or three times - at a fraction of the cost of Western procedures - to perfect their profiles framed by the ever-present hijabs, or scarfs, they must wear. I had to just mention this in this article which is by the Chicago Tribune. We really are not aware of the Iranian culture. This just goes to show how far our technology has come and at the pace its moving. There are some of us who would think and think and rethink before taking the plunge and opting for a plastic surgery if its just for a ‘look good’ or ‘feel good’ factor. But ofcourse the above contradicts our thought and tells us that people sometimes even get it done to overcome boredom. What is happening?

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California has qualified plastic surgeons, ofcourse, but what makes them different is they take you through the procedure with sensitivity. They will explain the technique and will also tell you about the anesthesia they will use. They hold your hand throughout the procedure right from the preparations to the post op care.

With our fast moving pace it is not surprising to find teenagers today also opting for these reconstructive surgeries. Their idols are models, and they think to ‘look good’ one must look like a model. It is important that parents have regular discussions with their children and get to know their mind frames. Though today we also have very good weekly magazines which cater to a specific age group and are very informative. These magazines are good reads for teens who need to read for themselves the pros and cons of these surgeries. They need to understand that looking good is not only about perfection or a 10/10 body.
