The planning process involved in getting your first tattoo can be quite detailed and involved. You want to be sure that you take your health and safety seriously as there can be dangers and risks involved. By taking care of any loose ends in advance, then you will be best equipped to have a positive first experience.

An important decision involves where you are going to get your tattoo done. Are you going to go with a local tattoo parlor or are you planning to have it done away from home while you are on vacation. Regardless of your plans you need to ensure that the facility is licensed and respects local codes and health concerns.

You also want to check out the qualifications of the individual artist who is going to work on your ink. How long has he been in business and does he have a portfolio of satisfied clients. If you have a friend who can give you a personal referral then you can be assured that you will be dealing with someone who comes highly recommended.

You may not be completely satisfied with the final result of your first tattoo. In these circumstances it is handy if your tattoo parlor offers some sort of guarantee. Some do, and in those cases they will touch up what needs to be done until you are finally happy.

The cost of the tattoo is something to be aware of before you begin. You may be surprised at how much tattoos can cost. By investigating this ahead of time, you can save and budget accordingly. Also do not select a tattoo parlor because they are cheapest. Sometimes it is in your favor to pay a little more and get higher quality work.

It is perfectly reasonable to ask questions of your prospective tattoo parlor. This can be your first clue as to the customer service and professionalism the establishment provides. If you feel comfortable with how you are treated when you ask questions now, you will likely continue to feel satisfied with that particular business.

By taking time to implement the suggestions I have outline above, you will be well on your way to your first tattoo being a great experience.
