The word 'niche' is defined as 'a situation or activity specially suited to a person's interests, abilities, or nature'. In business, a niche is 'a special area of demand for a product or service'. In general, a niche is a group of topic with direct interest. Niche articles, therefore, should focus on particular subjects of interest that appeal to primary groups of readers.

Choosing a good niche subject to base your website around is one of the most important aspects of selling articles for profit. This will give you a foundation to build on, and allows you to target one general audience with a pack of keywords they'll most likely be searching for. Take each keyword and use it for the basis of one article on each page. In doing so, you're targeting one specific subject, while sparking the interest of a wide variety of people in that one niche. Your readers may find other pages that interest them, which will keep them returning to your site to learn new information about your niche website subjects.

The best way to find the most-used keywords to draw users to your niche website subjects, is to use a keyword software program. Find the program online, and type in the word that is the subject of your niche. This will generate a list of keywords or phrases that contain your niche, and will provide an approximate number of users who search for each word or phrase. Some software programs will also tell you how many sites are currently using each word or phrase. This information is great to have, as it lets you know how many sites you'll be competing with. Once you have this information, you're free to decide which keywords will be most affective in drawing readers to your niche website subjects. It's ideal to choose the keywords with the fewest competitors, as this increases your chance of making it to the first or second page of search engine results. Further, the keywords you choose should be those that are used by a healthy number of people each month. Choose the keywords, and write your niche website subject pages around them.

If there are a number of topics that interest you, choose the one that you feel would be easiest to start with. Once that site is up and running, generating a little revenue, you can start another site. The most profitable website marketers combine their talents of finding niches with their abilities to create solid website content. Further success can come from offering a handful of affiliate links, as well as a good variety of niche sites.

Your success in website marketing is limited only by the time and effort you're willing to contribute. If you have a little startup capital and the drive to work hard, you can profit from writing with niche website subjects.
