All you have to do is get yourself a personal computer and an internet connection to keep the balls rolling. However, selling your products on the internet certainly has risks ? you must know several things that you need to do in putting up your own online store:

You must start with a reliable product or service to offer. If you want to be a retailer, start to find a wholesale distributor who is capable to supply the products on time.

Create a store name such as www.My-Web-Store-Name.com, which will serve as your URL (a.k.a. website address). Please do some short survey for the best website host vendor that is reliable and offers secure servers to e-commerce users. The web hosting providers normally charge on a one-time payment on a yearly basis.

Create a formal landing page for your online store. Make your website look professional and offer features that attract potential buyers on your landing page. You can outsource web designing tasks to web designers if you have no web designing experience. You must present your products in the most sensible way. Product pictures, descriptions, and prices must be listed in your landing page. Instructions regarding mode of payments and product delivery should also be listed properly in order to avoid any confusion among customers.

You can start an advertising campaign or Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns to drive traffic to your main website. Make your store visible to all visitors from all over the world.

Finally, choose a fast, reliable and easy payment system in which is commonly provided by Paypal to handle fast and secure credit card payments.
