Acne spots and pustules have an uncanny knack of appearing at just the wrong moment causing despair. Teen years can be times of moodiness without the added complication of emotions brought on by looking at a face covered in unsightly blemishes.

There are many support groups available for acne sufferers and most of these are now available on-line. Teenagers do not even have to reveal their faces to others. They can meet, chat with and get support from others in the same situation, all from the comfort of their desk. These support group forums are ideal places to check out what results others are getting from different treatment approaches and to share ideas. Some groups even have specialists acting as moderators which means that expert advice is given in response to questions posted.

Modern chat rooms are ideal places for teenagers to chat and make friends with other sufferers without fear of ridicule or rebuff.

Obviously, usual care needs to be taken with any on-line forum or chat room. Unfortunately it is true that such places are used by individuals for improper purposes and teenagers need to be aware that people are not always what they appear to be. For younger children, parents may wish to supervise chat activities.

Use of any of the search engines will yield an amazing number of resources all aimed at assisting acne sufferers. Many of the sites offered are front ends to a particular product and it is always good to look around sites to see what their true purpose is. Just because a web site may be promoting a particular medication or treatment doesn't mean the information contained there is any less valuable ? it just means that there is likely to be some bias towards one particular solution.

When searching for acne web sites on the internet, make sure they are showing information relevant to the home country of the acne sufferer. Not all medications are available in all countries and there is nothing more disappointing than tracking down what appears to be an appropriate treatment only to find it is not available.

The internet is a useful resource for finding information; it has also become a favorite medium for making and communicating with friends. However, despite the temptation to hide behind a computer screen, it is important that acne sufferers get out and about. Not only does the skin need a daily dose of fresh air and sunshine but, by hiding away, the perception of the acne problem can grow until it becomes almost insurmountable making the sufferer almost reclusive.
