A search engine may offer different services to its users. Along with the text search it may also offer searching for images, groups, news and videos etc. the web site owners or developers should also keep in mind that along with the text and key word efficient Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, they also need good Image Search Optimization (ISO) techniques to improve the ranking of their sites among the engine’s data base.
I give you some extremely simple and easy Image Search Optimization (ISO) techniques. Keep in mind the following factors.
• The name of the image
Your image should have a name and the name should be meaningful. Try to include the name of the topic that your website is about, in the nomenclature.
• the description of the image
It will be a very good practice if along with the name you are giving a short and concise description of the image. The description can contain mechanical details, if it is a picture of a gadget. It can contain also contain the date, time, venue of the picture, along with the name of the photographer.
• The Quality of the image
The image should be clear, sharp and non-offensive. Its resolution should be high. Try to keep the same image, available in 2 or 3 different resolutions.
• The accessibility of the image
Make sure all the images of your site are in search engine’s directory and easy accessible to the ‘crawlers’.
• The size and placement of the image
Although it may surprise you but the size and placement of the image also counts. It should be neither too small (that it remains almost hidden on your page) nor too large (that the text of your page is over-shadowed). Also some text should be placed around 3 or at least 2 sides of the image.
Take care of these things and there would be no reason why your image won’t be among the first ones in the web search.
Search Engine For Images
It is a fact that Google is the craze right now, but keep in mind the other search engines. I recollect when it was time Yahoo was the top search engine and before that it was Altavista on top. I wonder where that has gone. It is bizarre to know that Yahoo search engine has been completely dominated by other engines. This is not the complete truth. Due to metasearch engines, the Yahoo engine is still significant. Many use this metasearch tools, such as dogpile.
If you wish your site to rank high it should be objectionable to rank high wit yahoo or any other search engine. Tools exist on the Yahoo engine to enhance the ranking of your website and if you happen to run a web based bsiness, they can be of high amount of assistance to make your ratings rise higher like a bird!
Yahoo search engine is not my personal choice when compared to Google. I have reasons for this choice.I found this site very helpful http://www.commcloset.com. Google sorts out spam and other junk in an efficient manner and provides you quality hits as compared to Yahoo search engine. Its better to avoid Yahoo search engine if you wish not to browse through a host of
spam. No one has time to waste on junk. This is the reason why Google is doing better than Yahoo.
I have even heard somewhere that Yahoo search engine actually allows people to pay to increase their rating on the site. This is not advertising I am referring to. Google has them and so does every other engine, its not a big deal. You can tell by the way the ads are put up and some of them might be of help to you. But if Yahoo is the search engine of your choice then it becomes an entirely different issue.
You will have to wade your way through a whole lot of paid ads that are intelligently mixed with the valid results from the search you requested. Although other services Yahoo offers are good, for instance, Yahoo maps is the best direction service as per my opinion, yet when it comes to a search engine they are lousy at it and it is only the search engine that I am concerned about.
