It's not all bad news though. The income means test on the solar rebate will be lifted in July so everyone will qualify for the new scheme of around $5000 for a 1kW system and around $7000 for a 1.5kW system.

The NSW Government has also announced its intention to introduce an improved solar electricity tariff where homeowners will be credited up to four times the retail rate for excess solar electricity fed into the grid.
