Universally acknowledged fact: If you want the transplant to take, you've got to put in the right part. It works. It really does. Need a heart? Put in a heart. Need a lung? Put in a lung. By all means, do NOT attempt to replace a lung with a kidney; even a liver won't do the job. You've got to put in a lung. Furthermore, it must be a lung from the a member of the same species. Certainly you wouldn't attempt to put a mouse heart in a human. Assuredly that would not save the human's life. It would do the opposite.

Sound obvious? I concur. It is. In fact it's completely and totally superfluous to even utter such a thing, to tout such a fact as if it were even important to mention. It's as pointless as using completely and totally in the same sentence to modify the same adjective. But you'd be surprised at how un-universal this fact can be in some individuals' eyes when applied to things such as power tool parts.

Let's just say, hypothetically of course, that Charles has a Bosch circular saw. It's guard lever and extension spring have become loose and wobbly over the past few years, and he needs to replace them. In fact, it's gotten to the point where the parts barely function properly. He has to hold them just so, wiggle one just right and duct tape it so he can use both hands for his work.

Charles thinks to himself: They're just two dinky pieces of hardware; I can find something that'll work okay at the hardware store. I don't need to order a new part...actually, I don't even know where to find the exact parts. But what Charles doesn't know is that these two parts are not "just two dinky pieces of hardware." They're important, and he can't just get any old parts, he must get Bosch parts. There's a reason the circular saw doesn't work correctly when those pieces are worn out, and that reason says that the guard lever and extension spring are important.

However, Charles isn't convinced of the "dinky" pieces' significance, so let's imagine that Charles goes to the local hardware store, actually, let's not even go that far. Let's just imagine that Charles uses duct tape like so many other people do. Okay, let's not imagine it, we already mentioned that he DOES use duct tape, and we see that it doesn't work. Charles, your make-do methods aren't working. You need to get some Bosch parts. No other parts or methods will work like Bosch parts will work.

Charles' Bosch circular saw parts can be replaced very inexpensively, as can anyone else's. Be they Bosch circular saw parts, Bosch vacuum parts, or any other Bosch parts. All power tool parts are made specifically by their manufacturers to fit the power tool they are a part of. They are not made to be interchangeable among other brands.

Though hypothetical, Charles' story is applicable to many. Whether you've broken a your vacuum, your rotary hammer, your heat gun or any other Bosch power tool, or any of its parts, you will need a replacement Bosch part, and it's important that you acquire Bosch vacuum parts, Bosch rotary hammer parts, or Bosch heat gun parts.

So, back to our analogy, or rather our universally acknowledged fact that needs not be said. If you want a heart transplant to take, if you need a new lung, if you need a new liver, kidney, heart—anything—you've got to put in the part you're taking out, and it most certainly had better be a part from a member of the same species as it's going into. The same applies to power tools and their parts.
