"Lake Cowichan is part of Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. There is plenty to interest every one in Lake Cowichan, perhaps you should start by visiting the discovery centre there. If you appreciate the benefits of good wine then you might want to go on a wine tasting tour while you visit the local vineyards, several of which are open for tours.

Lake Cowichan is a beautiful place to live and one that offers a different kind of living. There is plenty of real estate in and around Lake Cowichan for people who want to live in that area much of it is either expensive or off plan property, i.e. property that is being developed. It is possible however to find some cheaper homes and one real estate agent has a property for just under $250,000 that has five bedrooms and two baths. The property is in a fairly isolated spot however as it backs on to woodland and hunting trails. This particular property offers both wood and mountain views and if the scenery is what you are looking for then a home like this might be just right for you and your family.

If you want a property that is in or around the town boundaries then it will cost around $350,000 for a three bedroom three bathroom single story home with a car port. A lot of Lake Cowichan is still undeveloped or awaiting development and realtors are buying up the land pretty fast. Some of the new builds are being sold for in excess of a million dollars, way out of the price range of a lot of families. If you do have that kind of money however, then there are a great deal more properties to choose from, or there will be once the building is finished.

Lake Cowichan is not cheap because the scenery and surrounding areas are so beautiful and, as has previously been mentioned, a lot of the real estate available is being sold as off plan properties. Plenty of people buy off plan and never have any problems, although in the current financial climate the equity could have depreciated by the time you move in. If you are planning on spending the rest of your life in the same home in Lake Cowichan then equity might not be top of your list of priorities, but it is worth your consideration.

If you are not keen on buying your new home off plan, either because you are concerned about the property being devalued or because you need to move in pretty quickly, then you should do some research. There are some good properties available but in an area as beautiful as this they do not come cheaply. You are unlikely to find any property in the area that is on sale for less than $200,000 because homes in this area are becoming popular, especially with the newly retired. So if you are thinking of relocating to Lake Cowichan then do some research and start saving your money.
