Some people believe that the rather “heated" issue of global warming is nothing more than a hoax sprung on the American people, “The biggest hoax ever perpetrated on to mankind", some say. Those who believe that global warming is in fact nothing more than a hoax think that there are more natural cycles at work in the environment causing the heating of the earth, rather than man-made creations such as air pollution. They believe that by global warming dictating major policy mandates, it will send the country into a deep economic recession or even depression.



These believers of the Global Warming Hoax also believe that recent research actually shows a great deal of proof that human-caused global warming is more and more of a unlikely factor and claim that there is not enough science to justify the Kyoto Accords and other policies that’s basis is tied in with human-caused global warming. They also claim that global warming was much worse years and years ago, before industrialization even began.

Regarding the melting of the polar icecaps, some who believe this elaborate hoax note that while some of the polar icecaps are melting, others are thickening, and that those who support the idea of human-caused global warming are afraid to admit that. They also blame the heating and cooling of the earth’s atmosphere on other, not human-caused occurrences such as the eruption of a volcano. They claim that the amount of ash or dust in the earth’s atmosphere can vary the heating and cooling temperatures of the earth’s atmosphere. They blame the ejections of large amounts of what environmentalists call “greenhouse gases" on the gases and compounds expelled from the eruptions of volcanoes, such as the famous eruption of Mt. St. Helens.

Those who claim that global warming is a hoax think that environmentalists that fight to expose human-caused global warming to the public have another agenda in mind, although what sort of alternate agenda is not made very clear. They also claim that the oceans are another significant source of greenhouse gases, as are trees. These organisms give off compound gases such as methane which are major greenhouse contributors, as well as decaying vegetation giving off large amounts of methane gases. These supporters of the global warming hoax claim that human-caused greenhouse gas emissions only account for 1% of the global emissions and that reducing literally all human-caused greenhouse gas sources such as SUV’s, would have absolutely no affect at all on the global mean temperature. It would also supposedly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions only by less than 0.2%.

The basic belief of these “hoax" fanatics is that global warming is not human-caused and rather is just a natural part of the earth’s cycle that has fluctuated through out history and is not something to worry about. They support their theories by examining global warming and greenhouse gas emissions over the course of history and claiming that it has been something that has gone up and down over the course of the history of the earth and that there are many more natural factors at work rather than the popular belief that we are causing the rise in temperature on earth by driving gas-guzzling SUV’s and using aerosol spray cans. While those who support the hoax may have a small amount of scientific data and theory, the mainstream belief that we are causing our own environmental problems has a heavier stack of statistical data and reasons.
