The Prodigal Son Bible

    View:
The Middle verse in chapter (33) of the Old Testament talks about Jacob (the servant) said to (his Lord) Esau: " I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me."

Does this mean that Esau was God in the eye of Jacob?

The Middle verse in chapter (33) of the New Testament talks about one of the rulers of the synagogue when he saw Jesus fell at his feet.

The Middle verse in chapter (33) of the Noble Quran talks about the traditional social custom of considering the adopted son as the real son; i.e. the adopted son has the same right of heir at law and he can not marry the daughter of his father who is falsely considered as his sister but actually she is not. This verse prohibited this custom for good. It should be emphasized that the Bible does not care about this custom!

This verse talks about Jacob (the servant) said to (his Lord) Esau: " I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me."

The Noble Quran:

Chapter 33 in the Noble Quran is AL-AHZAB (THE CLANS); it is composed of 73 verses.

The Middle verse is that number 37

It says:

AL-AHZAB 33:37

37) " and when you said to him to whom Allah had shown favor and to whom you had shown a favor: keep your wife to yourself and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; and you concealed in your soul what Allah would bring to light, and you feared people, and Allah had a greater right that you should fear him. And when Zayd had accomplished his want of her and what he would of her (divorce), as a wife we gave her to you (Prophet Muhammad) as a wife in marriage, so that there should be no difficulty for the believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons (foster children)

, when they have accomplished their want of them; and Allah's command shall be performed and must be fulfilled."

-------------

This verse talks about the traditional social custom of considering the adopted son as the real son; i.e. the adopted son has the same right of heir at law and he can not marry the daughter of his father which is falsely considered as his sister but actually she is not. This verse prohibited this custom for good. It should be emphasized that the Bible does not care about this custom!

To understand the verse, it is required to give some basic historical hints.

-------------

Who is Zayd? Zayd, was a prisoner of war between two Arabs' tribes before [the coming of] Islam. The winner tribe sold him as a slave. Muhammad purchased him before his call to prophet hood. Muhammad loved Zayd very much and manumitted him and adopted him as his son. His name was Zayd, the son of Muhammad.

Zayd was married to a noble wife (from a noble tribe); her family honored Zayd because he is the son of the Prophet Muhammad. His wife did not like him.

On the other hand, the adopted son was considered and treated exactly the same as the real son. It follows that the adopted him has the same right to heir his father and he can not marry to the daughter of his father because she is his sister. Moreover, if the adopted son has a wife, for any reason he divorced her, his father can not marry her because she was the wife of his son and the vice versa.

As a matter of fact, there were many legal rights and many social restrictions for the adopted son when he is treated as real son.

The order and commandment of Allah is that real is real and adopted is adopted. You can have many adopted sons but they do not have the right to heir you as if they are your real sons. Also, your adopted son can marry your daughter because she is not his sister.

-------------

The story of the verse was to forbid making an allowance for the adopted son as the real son.

Hence, when Zayd divorced his wife, Allah commanded Muhammad to marry her in order to put a law to prevent such social custom in the future.

-------------

Now, it is easy for the smart reader to understand the verse that means:

And ‘mention when you said to him (Zayd) to whom God had shown favor, by guiding him to Islam, and to whom you too had shown favor: by manumitting him ‘Retain your wife for yourself and fear God’, before divorcing her. But you had hidden in your heart what God was to disclose, and you feared people, would say, ‘He has married his son’s wife!’, though God is worthier that you should fear Him, in all things, so take her in marriage and do not be concerned with what people say. Zayd subsequently divorced her and her [obligatory] waiting period was completed. God, exalted be He, says: So when Zayd had fulfilled whatever need he had of her, We joined her in marriage to you, so that there may not be any restriction for the believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have performed the necessary formality (of release) from them) when they had finished their waiting period after they are divorced or after the death of their husband. And God’s commandment, that which He has decreed, is bound to be realized.

-------------

It should be emphasized that the Bible does not care about this custom! Moreover, the modern western societies do not care about this social issue!
