Treatment For A Yeast Infection

    View:
The most irritating of all symptoms of yeast infection is itching, according to most people.  Also accompanying the itching is the overwhelming burning sensation and redness over the vagina mainly involving tissue.  A white cottage cheese looking substance is present during the infection due to vaginal discharge.  Other annoying symptoms are present such as pain when urinating.  You may not experience all of these symptoms.

If you have never experienced a yeast infection before, you should go to your doctor.  Since the symptoms of a yeast infection are very similar to those of sexually transmitted disease such as gonorrhea and Chlamydia, it will be very difficult for you to know whether you have a yeast infection or something a lot more serious.

Your doctor will use a swab to take samples from the vaginal area lab tests will reveal whether or not there is a yeast infection involved with a pelvic exam and microscopic view, plus the lavatory tests of the sample you’ve provided, your doctor can diagnose your condition and recommend the correct form of treatment.  You can also ask the doctor about natural or home remedies, or over-the-counter medications if you prefer to go that route.

You may want to inquire about some of the antifungal treatments which come in suppository, tablet form, cream or ointments.  Medications such as Monistat cream applications, Nystatin tablets or cream application, Femstat vaginal cream antibiotic, or Clotrinazole lozenge, topical formula, or OTC cream, or tablets may be recommended to you.  These treatments should provide a cure and an end to those annoying symptoms of yeast infection.

Remember don’t self-medicate for symptoms of yeast infection unless you know exactly what you are dealing with.  It could be a more severe problem involved which could be made worse by using OTC medications.  According to the American Health Association, 70% of women who suspected they had a vaginal yeast infection self-medicated.  This could have resulted in the delay of a diagnosis and proper treatment of your illness.

The above mentioned Nystatin has been used successfully for years in the relief of simple vaginitis.  The success rate for such medications is 70% to 90%.  If you have experienced a y east infection and have been to the doctor for confirmation, then the next time the symptoms of the yeast infection recurs you can treat them on your own.  However, if these symptoms do persist for more than a week, pay your doctor a visit.

To keep form suffering the symptoms of a yeast infection prevent the problem from occurring by always practicing good feminine hygiene.  Avoid strong perfume soaps.  Cleanse the vaginal area with a mild soap at least once a day.

Try to take control of health problems which may contribute to the infection.  Lose old habits such as smoking and alcohol.

Treatment For A Yeast Infection
There are many different ways to prevent yeast infection. The simplest way is to be more aware of your hygiene and living a healthy life. In these instances many potential infections can be avoided along with the associated pain that comes with it. For this reason it's to your advantage that you be aware of and practice yeast infection prevention techniques. Prevention of a potentially painful or irritating condition is far better than having to apply a remedy.

The first point to be aware of is that yeast thrives in moist, warm environments. This is why the vaginal area tends to get infections more often than other parts of the body. Because of this, you should aim to keep the vaginal area as clean and dry as possible. Be especially wary if you've gone for a swim, had a hard workout, or finished a shower. Always dry the area completely. Remove wet clothes as soon as possible. These things reduce the likelihood for creating the kind of environment that encourages yeast to grow.

According to experts, taking a few simple precautions can go a long way for preventing yeast infection. Things as simple as changing your diet to incorporate healthier choices and adapting your clothing and personal hygiene products can prevent yeast from becoming a problem for you. The highest priority in the preventing yeast infection is maintaining a clean body. This is a basic requirement and must be observed whether or not you're infected. Washing your hands each time you visit the restroom is a good start.

One precaution that you can take for preventing yeast infection is to wear lightweight clothing made from natural materials that provides plenty of ventilation. Yeast is more likely to grow in the vaginal region when a person wears very tight pants or jeans and nylon or spandex clothing. Clothes made from cotton allow your skin to breath, and will result in fewer problems from yeast growth. Therefore, you should consider wearing cotton panties instead of those made from Lycra or nylon, because those materials trap moisture against your skin and allow yeast to grow in an uncontrolled manner. Similarly, you should not wear pantyhose unless you are wearing cotton panties beneath them.

An over abundance of yeast in the vagina can be caused by using common products such as scented tissue, pads, tampons, feminine spray products and sometimes even deodorants. This can lead to a full blown yeast infection. You should also try to avoid douches because they usually strip away the body's natural protective lining within the vagina. This can cause the vaginal area to be more vulnerable to yeast and other infections as well.

Sometimes the high intake of sugar will trigger the rapid growth of yeast. It has been scientifically shown that people with high blood sugar level are more susceptible to developing yeast infection. It will serve you well to cut down on your sugar intake and enjoy some yogurt instead. Yogurt is known to contain certain micro organisms. These are friendly bacteria that can fight growth of yeast. Consider consuming a cup of yogurt daily if you want to protection yourself from a yeast infection.

It makes more sense to prevent yeast infection occurring than to treat an infection that has become entrenched. If more women are careful not to permit conditions that allow yeast to grow, then they can prevent the mental worry and physical discomfort that can come from a serious yeast infection. By following some of the simple advice above you can keep yeast infections at bay.
