The City of Angels in the land of smiles

Thailand; the land of smiles and widely known so because of the happy Thai people who would rather give you a smile than a frown. King Rama V using money from his own purse to buy orchards fields between the Padung Krungkasem Canal and the Samsem Canal-Bangkok, transformed the area into the sacred gardens called the Dusit Gardens. Within these grounds the Vimanek Palace was constructed on his Royal command. This, a splendid example of Thai-Western architecture of brick lower floors and four golden teak carved upper floors is the world's largest teakwood building today. Tourists are advised when visiting here; that long trousers (pants) not shorts trousers be worn. And of course, like at other revered temples or buildings you will be advised to remove your shoes before entering.
