The Name Game. This game can only be played if the parents have already chosen a name and they want to share it with everyone. This is very basic. Basically it is just taking the letters of the baby's name and forming new words. You can play this game anyway you like. You can use the first name, the middle name and the last name, only one name or any combination of the three. You can have this as a timed game or pass it out in the beginning and collect it at the end. You can choose winners at random, based upon the most answers, the most unique answers or the best and most entertaining answers.
Mother's Weight. Okay, this is a game which is only appropriate for a woman who is comfortable enough to stand in front of a crowd while being ogled by everyone else who is going to guess her weight. The mother has to stand in front of the room and model for the guests. She should also do a few turns and let everyone get a good look at her. Them the guests have to guess how much she weighs. This is certainly not a traditional game, but it can be fun and interesting.
Baby Bottle Bowling Bowling at a baby shower sounds a little dangerous. Honestly it can be fun! Set up baby bottles filled with either a liquid or a solid (like baby cereal), so the bottles are a little heavier. The contestants use a "bowling ball" to knock down the pins. Suitable balls include street hockey balls and tennis balls. You can play a certain amount of frames, or one frame, most strikes in three throws. This game can be a creative as you want it to be. The winner wins the prize.
Word Scramble. One basic game that can be used at every party is to make a list of baby related words and scramble them up. Pass out the list, and have the guests try to unscramble as many words as possible. This should be a timed game and you should make sure you include some tougher words to keep it challenging. The person with the most unscrambled words wins.
Not Allowed Not allowed is a fun game to play at a baby shower. At the beginning of the shower you need to let all the guests know what words, phrases or actions are not allowed. This could be crossing your legs, or swearing or saying a certain name. Then you can pass out a baby related item such as pacifiers to the guests. Let the guests know that they each get one pacifier and if they see another guest doing an action or saying a phrase which is not allowed that they can then steal all of their pacifiers. Near the end of the party you can collect and count the pacifiers. The person with the most wins.
Baby Advice Game. This is more of a keepsake for the parents, but it can be done during game time. During a woman's pregnancy she finds out that once the world knows she is expecting, everyone seems to feel that it is their job to give her unsolicited advice. At some point the mother starts to tune this advice out. This is an opportunity to give a mother or father to be one or two pieces of heartfelt advice to look back on later. Before the party make construction shapes out of colored paper like hearts and stars. During the party pass them out and ask the guests to write one or two pieces of advice for the couple on them that may really help them in the first couple of years and ask them to sign it. These bits of advice and knowledge can be collected to be given to the couple after the party is over.
This article listed a few fun games and activities for baby showers, but there are literally hundreds more out there. So many different games and activities can be played at a shower; it is really up to the people throwing it. However, it is a good idea to get final approval from the mother before using any game.
