Many times these classes and seminars are taught by community leaders who are experts in personal finance. You may find that the instructors are more than willing to sit down with you at no cost to you.

Your county's consumer affairs department may have a program available to help cash strapped consumers. Professionals skilled with consumer issues can help you take control of your finances and help you overcome your short term problems while developing a long term plan to manage your finances. Also check with your church or civic organization for programs that may be available through them.
