Who’s Really The Boss?

    View:
After experiencing what I experienced today at church; I really wonder who’s in charge. Wow, I’m not trying to be sarcastic or mean but enough is enough. I’m not even attempting to meddle in your business; but I really need to know who’s in charge? I wrote an article sometime ago titled “Who’s the Parent you or your child" but to my amazement I see far too many times the child telling their parents what they’re want to do; and what they’re not going to do. Now come on parents’ let’s get it together. Do your children or child tell you what they’re going to do? Do they set the ground rules for your home? Who’s really the Boss? Make sure your child or children understand who the parent is and who the child is. In case you’re wondering the parent is the one who goes to and from work everyday. The parent is the one who pays the bills each and every month.

The parent is the one who takes their children to and from their extra-curricular activities; even though extra-curricular activities is not a necessity it’s an exception to the rules of parenting. The parent is the one who provides all the necessities for the child. In case you’re wondering what are the necessities they’re what you need: food, clothing and shelter. If you have been blessed to give your child or children more than the basic necessities then count the many blessings you have been blessed with. As a parent it would really be in your best interest to let your child know who the boss is. Not that you are bossy; but you have laid the foundation of good parenting skills to the degree your child or children will do what you say especially at an early age in their lives.

The earlier you establish this fact; the sooner your child or children will respect you. Children show respect only if they’ve been taught respect. It’s even tougher if you are a single parent and your child is growing up in two different environments. Establish early the ground rules for your home environment especially if you are a single parent. This way your child will know well in advance what is acceptable to you and what is not. Establishing who’s in charge is a must with raising our children today. There is just one to many distractions today; that could ruin our children’s lives. As parents’ let’s not let that happen.

Your child or children are an asset to you and not a liability. Look, Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of your womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3. If you are struggling with your parental rights and responsibilities sign-up to receive tips on life in general and I can help you with your parenting concerns.
