Unfortunately I have never been in a band and couldn't play a guitar if my life depended on it, but I have used MySpace as a form of promotion and marketing for other things that I have been involved within the past and the present. With over 250 million on MySpace it is one of the best ways to promote yourself or something else you might be offering to the public, this could include; music, paintings, retail products, affiliate program products, services, etc. And with that many people all congregated in one place, why wouldn't you use this to your advantage for as long as you can!?! There are several sites and programs available online which will allow you to add friends to your space. It's all pretty simple and it's free as well, unless you want VIP treatment! In order to get friends, all you have to do are the following steps:
- Login using your ID; This usually isn't your customized URL you entered in when you joined MySpace, but rather your friend ID, something like FriendID 123456789. You can easily find this by going to your profile, right clicking your mouse, going to properties or page info, and finding a link with the words Friend ID.
- Once you log in you will see your information, your photo and your display name, along with some "point" stats amongst other things. Something that looks like this:
You have 50 points.
You have sent 0 friend requests).
You have referred 0 friend's).
You have received 0 friend requests).
Now in order to get friends and get points, you will need to either add VIP friends or regular friends. Once you send requests or receive requests it will show up in your stats and once you add a friend or they add you, you will receive points along with the friend. After adding a friend or having them add you (after confirmations) you will then see them on your MySpace friends list. Easy right? Well, lucky for you there is an even easier way; bulk options, which allows you to add ALL the friends on the regular people list. This easily would allow you to add hundreds if not thousands of people every single day. And if you add more friends/receive more requests than anyone else, you will be put on the front page as a special member. I should also mention that points collected are potential friends, for example if you get 100 points, that would be 100 potential friends. Also, the more points you have, the higher your priority is to receive friend requests! So someone with 5,000 points would receive friends faster than someone with say, 100 points! VIPs get this option too but VIPs and regular members are in two different area, and for good reason. VIPs actually pay for their membership and receive special benefits the free users don't get. In this instance, it pays to become a VIP member! Try it out, see how many friends you can reach in a one day period!
