Did you envision who you would marry? The house you would live in? Would you live in the mountains? Join a golf or country club? Own a private jet or yacht? Would you drive a very expensive car? Ever thought where your children would go to college?
So we finished school, got a job and a career, married, had kids. Then either divorced or stayed married. Now that we have our lifestyle we know that our career has to be a priority. Kids go to a certain school. Made friends with the neighbors. Spent time in the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Kids play sports. We see parents taking their kids to practice after work. On the weekends you see them at the games. Maybe you have moved into a larger house. Also bought a summer home.
We have the things now. Also the headaches. Their is always projects to do on the house. Either enlarging, fixing or updating. Kids want stuff. Every year the kids and their stuff get bigger and more expensive.
Our expenses keep going up. Most recent is the cost of gas. More people who want new cars are leasing not buying. Others are sworn to drive their car until it breaks. Food always seems to increase as well as clothing and taxes. The list seems to be endless.
The other side of the coin is that the weekly or biweekly paychecks don't increase as your expenses. Budgets are always tight. The influx of money is constant while expenses increased. We know what our check will be on payday.
The mortgage and housing market is going crazy. People thought they could afford a bigger house and only pay the adjustable interest rate. Those affordable mortgages are not so affordable now that the rates are going up. With more adjustable mortgages coming due. The rate of foreclosures are increasing.
We are limited by our thinking, more importantly by our pocket book. The services that bill us, who want our money, don't care about our budget restraints. These companies provide their service and want to be paid on time.
As I look around and observe. Seems like people are caught in this vortex. Almost a black hole. They know they are being pulled in. They observe that. Unable to sidestep the fact and then be over burdened by their financial obligations.
Some people are like a deer on the road. They see the headlights and knowing what's ahead they don't move out of the way?
What happened to those dreams of childhood. Did someone tell you that "It is time for you to grow up?", "Be responsible?", "To get real?"
Did they end your dreams of what can be possible? I asked some friends of mine who were told to grow up. They responded that someone, in their family or a close friend, told them that they now have obligations and stop dreaming. I call them dream stealers.
Dream stealers mean well. They have good intentions. As long as you follow their advise. If you followed your own advise and not asked for theirs. You wouldn't hear them say "I told you so","I tried that before","that doesn't work because" or "if I were you". These people have limited beliefs. Life didn't go their way when they created their plan. They want people around them to know that life treated them tough and the same is in store for you.
Life doesn't have to be tough. What one thinks and believes usually will become true. If you believe that life is tough then your belief is true and you will get what you believe.
If you believe that life is about serving others. Helping yourself and others by making the right decisions. What you put attention to, focus on and believe most times come true. That too is true.
So whatever you believe you are absolutely right. People will pick up on that energy and that belief will become your reality.
Ash And May Get Married
Oregon was trying to stage a furious rally and attempted an onside kick that by rule must go 10 yards. It was clear on instant replay that the Duck player touched the ball illegally at about 9 yards and the Sooners should have been awarded the ball. Then they would've simply knelt down and ended the game with a huge victory and an undefeated record.
Unfortunately for them and those that bet Oklahoma on the money line at the sportsbooks, the replay officials awarded the ball to Oregon. On an attempted pass play an Oklahoma defender tipped a pass that fell incomplete. The referees then called pass interference on the Sooner's back and by rule once a ball is tipped, there is no interference invoked.
By now you are all aware that Oregon won the game, the officials were suspended, and the PAC 10 issued an official apology to the Sooners. Their coach, Bob Stoops, basically told them to take their apology and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
The Pac 10 would love nothing more than to see one of their teams like Oregon or USC make it to the BCS Championship game and the other to play in another big bowl as it means millions of dollars to the conference.
USC is undefeated and travels to Tucson this weekend to face a reeling Arizona team. Arizona was embarrassed on national television two weeks ago by LSU. Then they struggled big time against Stephen Austin last week. The Trojans are a 3-touchdown favorite at the sportsbooks and after dousing Nebraska last week they are flying high.
The Arizona coach is Mike Stoops, the brother of Oklahoma coach Bobby, and he'd love nothing more than to knockout a big dog like USC and get some payback for his brother. More importantly, it's the first game of the PAC 10 schedule and it would be a huge victory for recruiting purposes.
Last weekend was a big one with several key matches, while this weekend is being looked upon as a dud where all the top teams are playing ugly dogs. This is just the time when upsets occur.
