One of the active ingredients she noted was chromium, which has been found to help control blood sugar levels. According to Ms. Grimes:

"?chromium is important in the regulatory function of insulin and blood glucose. Its action is similar to the prescription drugs used by diabetics: Metformin and troglitazore. It is thought that chromium acts by decreasing the body's insulin resistance."

Natural Ingredient Documented to Lower Blood Sugar

Scientists, particularly Dr. Harry Preuss at Georgetown University Medical School and the general medical community have known the benefits of this natural ingredient for years, as a natural, lower cost alternative to expensive prescription drugs, such as Metformin.

It's also known, that chromium, in the right form (there are many different types of chromium, some good, some less so) does not have the side effects often associated with prescription drugs (such as rapid weight gain, gas, bloating, etc.).

Niacin-bound Chromium Most Effective, Safest

Much of the scientific research we've studied shows that one chromium form, in particular, is far more effective and safe, than any other.

Niacin-bound chromium (also known as polynicotinate) has been studied at various medical institutions. Compared to other forms, the patented niacin-bound version was found to be 311 more bio-available than chromium chloride.

Bio-vailability is important because it's a measure of an ingredient's effectiveness in being absorbed throughout your system.

The more bio-available an ingredient is, the more likely you are to reap it's therapeutic benefits. Niacin-bound chromium is the most bio-available form available to diabetics today.

Another consideration when choosing a chromium supplement is safety. Here again, niacin-bound chromium is the only form know to have been certified GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the Burdock Group, an independent testing organization.

Some chromium can have toxic effects on your system over time. Niacin-bound chromium is the only one to have been documented safe - both short and long term.

Before rushing out to your local health food or vitamin store to buy niacin-bound chromium, you should also consider the source.

Look for a manufacturer of niacin-bound chromium that displays the USP or NF (preferably both) symbol of quality.

Look for this designation on the label. It's important because it certifies that what's stated on the label (ingredients and dosage level) is what's in the bottle.

Some manufacturers water down or dilute the active ingredient levels of natural products. It gives them bigger profits but dramatically reduces the effectiveness of your supplement.

An Amazingly Positive Side Effect

In addition to niacin-bound chromium's ability to lower blood sugar levels, in a similar fashion as the prescription drug Metformin, it has one other major benefit.

Unlike Metformin, which is known to cause rapid weight gain among users, niacin-bound chromium has its own side effect - it actually has been clinically-proven to lower weight!

This is a major positive side effect of this natural ingredient that it can help attack the two fundamental issues associated with getting your diabetic condition under control -blood sugar and weight gain.

For Type 2 diabetics looking for a natural, alternative solution for high blood sugar levels and excess diabetic weight, niacin-bound chromium is a clinically-tested effective and safe solution.
