For those with the budget, using silk bedding materials are an excellent way to stay cool while retaining a more luxurious feel than if you were to stay with cotton products. Satin can be used for this effect as well, giving your bed a high-class feel while allowing high amounts of air circulation to dissipate heat. Cotton, silk, and satin materials are very easy to take care of and are easy to store for the winter.

For colder winter evenings, we want to start thinking about heavier fabrics and heavier forms of beddings. We want to retain our body heat, especially if we live up in colder climates in the north. Wool is a popular choice, as well as other animal materials such as feathers. A word of caution, however: Some people are naturally allergic to many of these products, so if this is the case stick with synthetic blends.

Wool blankets tend to do the opposite of the cotton, silk, and satin bedding products that were discussed above; they tend to create pockets of heat next to our bodies, which is what we want during the winter.

Down comforters are extremely popular these days, and provide a very soft and luxurious environment in which to sleep. The best down comforters can be very expensive, however, but they retain heat extremely well.
