With the wide variety of DVD players, portable video players and computer programs now available with video playback functons, more and more people need video conversion software to make their videos compatible with all of their equipment. There are a large number of video formats available these days. Some examples of the different video types include AVI, MP4, WMV, DivX, MPEG, VOB and many more.

Let's say that you own a DVD and you want to watch it on your iPod. You will need to be able to convert the DVD video to the MP4 format, which is supported by the iPod. The best way to convert it is to download an iPod DVD converter or MPEG-4 video conversion software.

This is just one example. Different video equipment will use different video formats for playback. For example, a cell phone might use 3GP, a Microsoft Zune uses WMV format and so on.

You want a program that can output your DVD or video into all sorts of video formats. This is because you may want to put the video on your Zune, your cell phone and on your computer. This could be three different video types!

There are many options to choose from when it comes to downloading or purchasing a video converter program. Just remember to find one that supports the devices you own.

A few of the more popular all-purpose video conversion software programs include the Movavi VideoSuite, the AVS Video Tools program and the IMTOO video converter. These are just a few of the many software titles available.

How do you choose the software for you? That depends on what you need. Just compare features and prices and make a choice. Most of the better software companies offer free trial downloads so you can be sure the program works and you like the setup.
